From Atlanta Elder Law Attorney: We Have So Much More To Be Thankful For This Thanksgiving

elder law attorneys remain grateful in 2020

As an elder law attorney in Georgia, I have seen first-hand the challenges of this year for not just myself, but my clients. Yet, I am sure I am not alone when I say that I am especially thankful during this 2020 Thanksgiving season.

Collectively, we have been navigating through the COVID-19 global pandemic and the strung-out presidential election. Closer to home, my family has experienced the unexpected death of my mother-in-law.

In our business as Atlanta-area elder law, estate management, and asset protection attorneys, we have been experiencing the distress our clients’ families have experienced as their loved ones are shut in facilities.

And even closer to my heart, we were completely unable to celebrate, in the style that they would have so loved, the celebration of my children turning 10. Nor did we get to celebrate my wife and I turning 50. Yet, there is still so much more that we do have to celebrate and for which to be grateful.

This year, I planted and harvested my first hemp crop on our new farm. My children hatched chickens and a duck from eggs. Our horses moved to the farm and fattened up. We got two sweet new puppies. The earth got to breathe better from fewer people at national parks and on the roads. My family has spent more quality time together now that I am working from home more often, which allows me one of my sweetest pleasures:  I once again get to walk the kids to and from school. In addition, I have been able to reflect more deeply on what is most important to me in life.

Still Grateful in 2020

I am eternally grateful for my health, the health and well-being of my family and my work family.

I am eternally grateful for our clients and their families, my mentors, my pets, the work I get to do in service for others. I am also grateful for my own continued maturation, personal and spiritual growth. I feel certain that the challenges we have all faced in 2020 has prepared us to be stronger for 2021 and for years to come.

Thank you for being part of my life in 2020.  I’d love to hear what the silver lining has been in your life this year and what you plan to do in 2021.  Email me directly – victoria@elderlawgeorgia.com.

May you and your loved ones have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
