What to Look for in a Power of Attorney Agent

The first step is to look for someone trustworthy. Integrity is critical, as the agent may manage your bank accounts, make healthcare decisions, or handle real estate transactions. Ideally, this person should have a proven track record of acting responsibly and ethically.

Secondly, you’ll want to consider their ability to handle complex decisions. Your agent doesn’t need to be a lawyer or financial expert, but they should be capable of understanding detailed information, asking the right questions, and seeking help when needed.
