Stacy Merriweather was born and raised in The Bronx, NY. She was raised by her mother and her great aunt. She developed an awareness and a passion for serving those who are under-privileged and disadvantaged at an early age by participating in many community and church-sponsored programs. She attended high school at Hostos-Lincoln Academy of Science, where she was inducted into the National Honor Society. She attended Norfolk State University in Norfolk, VA, where she became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She holds a BS in Mass Communications and a MA in Urban Affairs from NSU. In the summer after her Freshman year, she worked at a community-based organization that helps people obtain affordable housing. It is then that she was able to put her passion for helping others to work. She has also worked for the US Navy, securing on-base housing for junior sailors. She moved to Atlanta in 2013 and began working with DFCS to provide SNAP and Medicaid benefits to the citizens of Georgia. She developed a love for providing human services to those in need with her work at this agency. She has also worked to secure Disability and Medicaid through the Social Security Administration at Grady Hospital. Before joining the firm, she worked with Visiting Nurse Health System helping those who are elderly and/or disabled to secure Medicaid in order to participate in the CCSP program. She has enjoyed being able to be of service in this capacity in each position that she has held because it is important to her to be able to connect people with the services that they need in order to sustain a healthy quality of life. She is a mother of 3 boys, who are very active in youth football. They keep her youthful and extremely busy! Her hobbies include listening to podcasts, watching documentaries, and writing.
